I joined Open Door on 21st September 2020 as the Customer Care Co-ordinator, this was a brand-new role and I was so excited to get started. The Customer Care Co-ordinator manages all defects throughout the first 12 months of the property being built, ensures all defects are reported to the contractors and is the first point of contact for all customers once they’ve purchased their shared ownership or outright sale home.
I have worked in customer based roles for the last 12 years and have 4 years social housing experience. I have a passion for property and interior design, especially in new build properties. I am married, with two young children and we currently live in a new build property that we bought off plan 7 years ago, so I definitely can relate to the customer as I have been in their shoes, purchasing a new property.
The greatest challenge so far has been working from home due to the current COVID restrictions. However, that said I have learnt so much already in my first month working for Open Door and gained a great insight into the future plans and direction.
On my first day we had a teams meeting, this gave me the opportunity to meet the whole team even if it was not face to face. I feel like I have fitted in well, the whole team are so friendly and helpful.
I have been contacting customers mainly by phone on a regular basis and enjoy speaking to them about their new home. I have even met a few customers at their properties in Bower Brook Gardens and Tannery Fields (at a safe distance), this has not been as often as I would have liked due to the restrictions but hopefully by next year I will be able to meet every customer that purchases a property from Open Door to introduce myself and build a relationship with them.
I have really enjoyed being involved in the new sites that Open Door and Halton Housing are currently working on. The new build properties look fantastic and will really enhance the area.
I am looking forward to expanding the role and building relationships with customers, colleagues and contractors to ensure Open Door achieve the best possible outcome.
Overall I am so pleased to be given the opportunity to work for Open Door as it’s a great team to work for and there is nothing I love more than meeting the new customers who are so excited to make a new house their home.
